Item Analyzing the effects and factors of being immersed in a native environment after being in a non-native one(2016) Ortega Bonilla, Jorge; Juárez Gómez, Eduardo; TAPIA CARLIN, REBECA ELENA; 251221“This thesis explores the relationship between the factors and effects of oral language exposure in native and non-native environments. Therefore, misunderstandings and struggling to perform a language has to do mainly with little exposure, practice and interaction. Hence there is a contrast of effects resulted of being exposed to different language settings, in this case, native and a non-native environments. First of all, we would like to state that LEI stands for Licenciatura en Enseñanza del Inglés, a BA in English offered at Benemerita Universidad Autonoma de Puebla, University in Puebla, México. We want to point out that when we say lack of practice, we are referring to low interaction that LEI students face when they are exposed to other classmates inside the classroom. We mentioned this, because we have observed that most of times when students are asked to speak about any topic they want, they usually have difficulties to communicate their ideas, due to insufficient opportunities they have to develop their oral skills, taking into account that oral skill is developed through constant practice rather than explanation.”Item Apology strategies produced by basic nonnative language learners of English(Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, 2013) Peralta Aguillón, Alma Alicia; PERALTA AGUILLON, ALMA ALICIA; 688665"The knowledge a native speaker of a language as well as a learner possess, develop, acquire, use or lose, is what in the linguistic field is known as communicative competence. This term is mainly associated with Chomsky, who considered it as “the native speaker’s knowledge of his own language” (Paultston, 1992, p. 39). It is the internalized set of rules or the system that enables the speaker the creation of new grammatical sentences and the understanding of the sentences addressed to him, in which an individual performs the speech act based on the knowledge he already possess and is able to communicate not in a proper but in an understandable way. Taking into account this, linguistic competence is the ability to perform, understand and being understandable. According to Hymes, who did not only added other points to Chomskian conception of competence, but contradicted Chomsky’s position, communicative competence “is the knowledge of what is possible, feasible, appropriate and actually done” (Johnson, K. & Johnson, H, 1998, p. 62).
